Meanwhile, in another part of town: pulp city

And now for something different

Trawling the Internet I came across a polish company called Pulp Monster. As a big fan of all things pulpy I took a look and fell in love with the models of:

Pulp City: a game of superheroes

I picked up a hero starter pack and a villain pack from Artemis Black who are the only stockists I'm aware of in the uk. I can vouch for Artemis as a solid bloke so if you come across him in Wales or online you can trust him.

Anyway onto the models:

Odds and sods: Enigma Vlad, Secrets of the third reich et al

So

I was a busy painter while I was on holiday as you can see. I couldn't really think of how to deal with each of these separately so I threw them all together and this is what you get:

Dark Vlad is by Enigma miniatures and they make damn fine models for mostly painters.

The dark elf prince is by avatars of war, I had problems with the face and the lighting makes it look a lot shinier than In reality.

The panoceania Orc trooper was really just a paint test that didnt work so well so I just rolled with it.

Last two are my first secrets of the third reich models..US trooper and German zombie. Only spent about half an hour on each.

I should note at this point that I generally only spend 4 hours or so on each model. I don't really have the time or the space to put more in. Once I have a proper place to stay that may change but I'm just trying to do the best I can on the time I have as I generally only have time to paint at home when I go at the weekends.

Anyway skaven to come down the line yes yes?

Stabby Stabby yes yes: Skaven trech craven tail

So

I promised skaven and so I give you this lovely mini. I really tried to do his skin justice and I think it worked out. Couple of runes on the side and some slight osl (object source lighting) and Mary's your aunt:

Swan Lake: Cygnar women

So

After turning my nose up at Cygnar quite a bit I have succumbed and found two of my favourite models of all time.

Epic Victoria Haley and the storm smith side model. They just have so much...class. Painting them was fun, especially the blue uniforms which remind me of Valkyria Chronicles.

Last Stop: Lich Lord Terminus

So

I said he would be done on my next holiday, and I kept my part of the bargain. He was my first (and failed) attempt at pinning..he's just green stuff and glue so don't sneeze or anything yeah?

As you can see he looks rather dull which is fine really considering the night time aspect of the Cryx army. Wings came out well though.

One in the hand: Wood Elf Hero

So

Another WH mini, another attempt at NMM. I'm beginning to prefer white undercoat as I find black too dark as I tend to thin my paints and only do a couple of layers. The base is custom fantascape and I think adds a lot to the mini.

I've found that adding a hint of green to the face actually helps add definition and shading to seem more natural.
